Coffee Girl

En Huilan is very different from other  Lisu girls in her village. She has short hair and loves to play basketball. But acting like a tomboy in her remote community, she's considered eccentric by many of the villagers. Huilan’s parents grow coffee high in the mountains – and in the past two years, thanks to Pinduoduo's agricultural assistance program, the family income has greatly increased. Although Huilan’s father loves his daughter, he doesn’t really understand her insistence on having short hair. But he's proud of her self-assurance and believes that one day she can leave their village and go out to become part of the wider world... just like the coffee beans he and his family grow in the mountains.
