On September 9th, the lineup of the final judges for the inaugural Golden Panda Awards was announced. The awards, divided into four categories—feature films, television dramas, documentaries, and animated films—will be chaired by renowned Chinese director Zhang Yimou. Hong Kong director, producer, screenwriter, and action director Stanley Tong will chair the feature film category; national first-class playwright and acclaimed director Zheng Xiaolong will chair the television drama category; Oscar and Emmy Award-winning director and producer Malcolm Clarke will chair the documentary category; and Swiss contemporary animation art master Georges Schwizgebel will chair the animated film category.

Malcolm Clarke: The Golden Panda Awards are Unique and More Interesting

Famous director and producer Malcolm Clarke, who has won 16 Emmy Awards, 5 ACE Awards, 2 Oscars, and has been nominated for Oscars 4 times, will serve as the chair of the documentary category for the inaugural Golden Panda Awards.

Clarke mentioned that Chengdu is one of his favourite cities in China, and each visit to Chengdu is a source of joy and excitement for him. Being invited to Chengdu this time is even more thrilling as he will have the opportunity to interact with more young and talented filmmakers, through whom he can glimpse the future direction of China's film industry.

Having participated in the judging process for several Chinese film and television awards, including the Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Awards, Clarke noted that the Golden Panda Awards have a distinct character, making them more interesting in some respects.

"I am delighted to see the Chinese film industry gradually recovering and witnessing excellent films bringing happiness back to people's lives once again," said Clarke, expressing his anticipation for the September event in Chengdu where he hopes to discover many new and exciting original film works.
