Stuart Sender is an Academy Award nominee whose credits include two films nominated for best documentary feature: PRISONER OF PARADISE & THE GARDEN. Much of Stuart’s work lives at the intersection of entertainment and popular culture - exploring subjects like apartheid and human rights; war & peace; climate change; and the impact of media on society.  


Recently Stuart has produced two series for Netflix. He was Co-Executive Producer of the Emmy-winning Netflix music series REMASTERED, which was nominated for four Emmys. He also directed a film for the series. And he also Co-Executive Produced MELTDOWN, a four part series about the Three Mile Island nuclear disaster, which was one of most streamed series on the network both in the United States and globally. Stuart also recently co-wrote and co produced RASHOMON HONG KONG which chronicles the political conflict there.  


Stuart was a producer of the Showtime climate series Executive Produced by James Cameron & Arnold Schwarzenegger; YEARS OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY won the Emmy Award for best nonfiction series. Stuart produced the segments featuring Matt Damon who was a correspondent for the series. Stuart’s credits include writing, producing and directing HARMONY, in a unique collaboration with The Prince of Wales, Prince Charles. HARMONY which focuses on sustainable solutions to global climate change, first aired on NBC. The film then had its theatrical premiere at the Sundance Festival in London, where it was introduced by Prince Charles and Sundance founder Robert Redford.  


Stuart was Executive Producer of The Garden, an Oscar-nominated documentary that chronicles the political and real estate controversy around the largest urban garden in America, located in South Central Los Angeles. Distributed by Oscilloscope Labs, HARMONY was broadcast on Showtime.  


He also wrote, produced and directed the Oscar-nominated documentary Prisoner of Paradise - the story of Kurt Gerron, a German Jewish actor, director and cabaret star who was sent to a concentration camp and ordered to make a pro-Nazi propaganda film. Prisoner of Paradise was also nominated for a Directors Guild Award.


Stuart’s filmed around the globe. He produced the PBS series SOUTH AFRICA NOW, winner of an Emmy and a Polk Award for excellence in journalism. A career and life highlight is producing and directing the first exclusive interview with Nelson Mandela following his release from prison.  


Stuart’s work in dramatic films includes writing the story for THE VOW starring Channing Tatum & Rachel McAdams. He also produces social media campaigns & music videos featuring performers like Julia Louis Dreyfus, Will Farrell, Fergie & Stevie Wonder which have received hundreds of millions of media impressions.
